Shinkyuku is very busy town with commuters and shoppers. West side of Shinjyuku is business district and you will see skyscrapers including Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. East side of Shinjyuku has a lot of bars and restaurants. Also, Shinjyuku has many good department stores such as Isetan and Takashimaya.
West side is quite in the night, and you will find some good hotels, while East side is lively until late night and you will find more reasonable hotels.
